Kia Ora and welcome to Room 1 2025.
Hi, my name is Lisa Walker and I have the awesome job of teaching 30 enthusiastic and creative Year 5 and 6 students.
Welcome to Term 4
Our learning focus this term is:
Health and PE: Run, Jump, Throw unit to help us to prepare for our school athletics day. Harold will be visiting our school this term and we continue to have our Monday afternoon Ready to Roar sessions.
Maths: Maths No Problem looking at measurement, geometry and word problems.
Writing: Persuasive writing - persuading others to see our viewpoints.
Reading: Developing our comprehension, vocabulary and summarising skills. We will be reading a range of fiction and non-fiction texts.
Topic: New Zealand Histories - We have an exciting trip to our local Tawhiti Museum
For myself as a teacher, I believe in working alongside my students to help them to achieve their goals to the best of their ability. Our classroom is a room where mistakes are seen as opportunities for learning and personal growth, where we are hard working, creative, we work together to show our Roar values and we have fun.
Every Monday, students will set up their homework for the week - the homework is made up of a language activity, reading for 15 minutes each night, basic fact problems and at times, some research or topic work.
Have a great day !
Lisa Walker
