Kia Ora and welcome to Room 1 2026.

 Hi, my name is Lisa Walker and I have the awesome job of teaching 25 enthusiastic and creative Year 5 and 6 students.  

Welcome to Term 2

 Our learning focus this term is:

Health and PE: This term we are focusing on working as a team and fair play.  We  will continue to have our Monday afternoon Ready to Roar sessions. 

Maths:  Maths No Problem looking at multiplication and division.

Reading: This year we are diving into BSLA for years 5 and 6. Students will be learning a range of skills such as skimming and scanning, comprehension, vocabulary development and inferring.

Writing: Focusing on writing for a range of different purposes covering descriptive, explanation, persuasive and information report writing.

 For myself as a teacher, I believe in working alongside my students to help them  achieve their goals to the best of their ability.   Our classroom is a room where mistakes are seen as opportunities for learning and personal growth, where we are hard working, creative, we work together to show our Roar values and we have fun.

Every Monday, students will set up their homework for the week -  the homework is made up of a language activity, reading for 15 minutes each night,  basic fact problems and at times, some research or topic work.
