We are a class of 24 yr 5 & 6 students and we are all excited to be starting our learning journey together this year. Keep on checking in to see what we are up to. Our teacher Mrs. Sybrandy is also the DP so she teaches us Monday - Thursday and we have Mrs. Moffitt who teaches us on a Friday.
Term 1, 2026
We are settling back into our routines, getting to know our new classmates and are super excited for our year 5 & 6 camp in week 3!

Term 4, 2025
Term 4 is upon us - and yet again we are looking forward to another action packed term!
We started the term with a visit to Tawhiti Museum. We were lucky enough to go on the 'Whalers and Traders' boat ride. It was amazing and we learnt a lot about the history of South Taranaki.
We are preparing for our upcoming athletics day, Harold will be visiting and many, many other exciting things are just around the corner!
Term 3, 2025
Term 3 has begun - and we are looking forward to another action packed term!
It's week 1,day 3 and we are already eagerly awaiting a St John's Ambulance officer who is visiting our akomanga to teach us the basics around first aid!
We will continue our learning journey with Math No Problem and are looking at Statistics, Fractions and Word Problems this term. We will increase our fitness through fun activities - we might even get the chance to take part in our annual school cross country event!
There will be a focus on our te reo Māori unit, learning new words and phrases to increase our growing knowledge in this area.
Term 2
Welcome Back!!
Term 2 has begun - this term is a busy one with sport and Matariki celebrations and it's only 9 weeks long.
Our main focus this term is
Reading - developing comprehension and inferencing skills.
Writing - Using Pobble to create writing and also Report writing.
Maths - We continue to use Math No Problem and are looking at Multiplication/Division, Graphs, Time and Fractions.
Topic - Fire Safety, Dog safety and Matariki.
Our Buddies are Room 7 - the 5 year olds and we love visiting with them.
We went to the school orchard and picked apples together.
Then we peeled them and chopped them up into the crockpots. After lunch we had yummy stewed apple to eat!
Day 1 maths - Skittles and probability.

We are heading into the final term for 2024 - where has the time gone?
This term is going to be a busy one. We have our school production - The Great Aotearoa History Show, followed by school athletics day, a gala, disco and a large number of end of year activities.
In the classroom we are reading and writing information reports, developing our fractions, percentages and ratio knowledge and learning about rotation, translation and transformation.

We have another busy time this term. We are learning lines for our production, completing procedures and writing them up, learning about Geometry, Measurement and probability. Whew!
Making Crystals
As part of our procedures topic we made Crystals.
We then wrote the procedure
Making Chunky Chalk
We read a school journal article about making chunky chalk. We then wrote it into a procedure and then made chalk.
We gifted it to our buddy class for discovery time.
We are settling back into our routines, eagerly anticipating our Lake Rotokare visit, later on in the term.
Our numeracy focus is addition and subtraction and we are learning about note taking and summarising in reading.
Year 6 were invited to watch Te Paepae o Aotea's production - The Lion King.
