Room 4, 2025
Kia ora, my name is Mrs Meredith Batchelor and I am the teacher in Room 4.
We are a class of fun, loving and inquisitive Year 2 students who are looking forward to a year of learning.
Visit our page throughout the year to see what we are getting up to.
During Term 1, Room 4 had loads of fun in the swimming pool learning how to keep themselves safe both in and around water. They learnt to float on their back if they get into trouble while waiting for help.
We focused on 'All About Me' and did many activities around this topic.
We created lots of art work during Term 1, using pastel, watercolours and newspaper.
We even created in watercolour our class pet Dino.
During Term 2 Room 4 covered the 'Get Firewise' topic. We learnt that fire can be dangerous and practised behaviours that will prevent fires starting, for example, not playing with matches, lighters and candles and also how to get out of a burning building quickly and safely . We concluded this topic with a visit to the fire house and created some fire artwork.
Our buddy class Room 12 joined us this term and taught us how to use the rākau sticks.
Room 4 and 12 then put on a performance at our assembly.
In Term 2 we also covered Puanga/Matariki and concluded the term with a day in our Waka groups where we did fun activities and a Puanga Breakfast.
During Term 3, Room 4 learned simple Te Reo words and phrases.
These words and phrases are ones we now use inside the classroom everyday including saying how we are feeling each morning. We are also learnt to name areas of the school in Te Reo.
Play Ground - papa takaro
Hall - whare hui hui
We had a visit from Bear and learnt how to be safe around dogs.
Term 4 will be another busy term for Room 4... we are visiting Tawhiti Museum; training for athletics...
