Kia Ora and welcome to Room 1 2023.

 Hi my name is Lisa Walker and I have the awesome job of teaching 30 enthusiastic and creative Year 5 and 6 students.  

Welcome to Term 2

 Our learning focus this term is:

PE: Winter Sports and Active living sessions with a focus on communicating.

Math:  Patterns, multiplication and division.

Writing: Descriptive language and information report writing.

Reading: Summarising skills,  making predictions, developing vocabulary. We will be reading a range of fiction and non-fiction texts.

 For myself as a teacher, I believe in working alongside my students to help them to achieve their goals to the best of their ability.   Our classroom is a room where mistakes are seen as opportunities for learning and personal growth, where we are hard working, creative, we work together to show our Roar values and we have fun.

Every Monday, students will set up their homework for the week -  the homework is made up of a language activity, reading for 15 minutes each night,  basic fact problems and at times, some research or topic work.
