Room 11

Welcome to Room 11.  We are 23 wonderful  Year 4 &  5 students, and we are ready to embrace a fun-filled year of learning.  Visit this site throughout the year to see what we are getting up to!

This term Room 11 begin rehearsing for our school production that will take place early term four, so the classroom will come alive with singing and dancing. We will also brave the cold as we train for cross country, as well as participating in our regular P.E. programme.  With the Summer Olympics happening in Paris, this is a great time to learn about different countries of the world, as well as a variety of sports. Go New Zealand!!

The weather is getting cooler and winter sports are upon us. Year 5/6 interschool sports features this term, with children competing in netball, rugby, hockey and football. We also have a trip to Lake Rotokare to support our science unit, plus many more wonderful learning opportunities.

Rotokare Visit

A highlight of the term was visiting Rotokare Reserve and learning about the beautiful flora and fauna in our own backyard.

We celebrated the coming of the Māori New Year by sharing breakfast with our friends and whanau

Jumping June

We enjoyed learning to skip while raising money for the Heart Foundation during Jumping June.

Term One

With the beautiful sunny weather it is only fitting we start the year with a big focus on swimming! Having lessons in  our heated school pool. We will also delve into art, science and physical education, along with reading, writing and maths. It is going to be a fun term getting to know each other and learning wondrous things along the way!

Art was a big focus for term one. Room 11 relished the chance to create wonderful masterpieces!

Room 11 were lucky to be able to have swimming lessons at both our school pool and the Hawera Aquatic Centre.

We planted the seeds, gave them water and watched them grow. Then it was harvest time!

We farewelled our Year 5s as they headed off to camp at Vertical Horizons.
