Room 14 

Kia Ora,

Welcome to Room 14, Term 1, 2024.

We are a fun and energetic group of 14, Year 1 students.    In Room 14 we have a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy. We are using the Better Start Literacy Approach to develop our phonological awareness and literacy skills.

Our teacher is Mrs Smith.

Join us as we capture a year full of fun learning. 

Term One 2024, we are swimming every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The water is heated and the class is learning water confidence.

Mixing primary colours

We mixed primary colours, to see what colours we could create.  We could choose if we wanted to paint our background or not.  Look at our cool pictures using the outlines of our hands outlines. 22/11/23

Matariki Breakfast

On Friday the 21st of July we are having a ‘Puhanga Breakfast’. We are inviting the families in our class to join us.

School chooks

The first week of Term 3 our class is on feeding the school chooks. We love to feed them from our hands. 

Term 2

We made poppies out of paper and pipe cleaners to commemorate ANZAC day.

Ipads

We are learning to log on and off our iPads.  

We are also exploring different apps and there functions. 

We use Seesaw to send work home to our parents.

PATTERNS 

Look at our cool repeating patterns made with different things in our classroom.

In class discovery time

Building relationships, problem solving, working together, sharing, turn taking and imagination is just some of the learning during discovery. 

Fun Activities

Term 1

Term 1 was a busy term filled with building relationships, art and swimming. Children made the most out of or lovely heated school pool swimming 3 times a week.
