WHAT IS READING RECOVERY?
"Reading Recovery is an early literacy intervention that helps six-year-old children who are not getting underway well to make accelerated progress. Daily individual lessons, with specially trained teachers, are provided for a short time alongside classroom instruction."

At Turuturu School we are proud to have had an active Reading Recovery programme for many years. This year Mandy Greig is the Reading Recovery teacher. Mrs Greig is a trained structural literacy teacher. We have six children currently on the programme.
Turuturu School prioritises our Reading Recovery Program ensuring that about 12 children a year get the additional boost they need to be successful.
Mrs Greig will also work with small groups of younger students as part of Reading Recovery's new "Early Literacy Support" intervention.
Children involved in this program make remarkable accelerated progress.
